The Touwsrivier Solar Community Trust was established in 2011. The Trust owes its roots to South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).

 

As a consequence of REIPPPP’s community ownership requirements, the Trust has equity in the largest CPV solar plant in the world, located in Touwsrivier.

 

The Trust’s vision is to become a sustainable social investor that can create long-term wealth for the community of Touwsrivier. Therefore, its intention is to invest in many more income generating assets to ensure a consistent revenue profile for the community, into perpetuity.

 

The Trust is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation. It is managed by a board of trustees comprised of community and independently appointed Trustees.
