At A Glance

The Touwsrivier Solar Community Trust was established in 2011. The Trust owes its roots to South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).

 

As a consequence of REIPPPP’s community ownership requirements, the Trust has equity in the largest CPV solar plant in the world, located in Touwsrivier.

The Trust’s vision is to become a sustainable social investor that can create long-term wealth for the community of Touwsrivier.

Vision

The Trust is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation. It is managed by a board of trustees comprised of community and independently appointed Trustees.

Industrial Assets

Our Assets

CPV1 is a 36 MW Solar CPV power plant. CPV1 concluded its Power Purchase Agreement with the state utility, Eskom, in 2012. Construction on the site was concluded at the end of 2014. Over 300 members of the Touwsrivier community were employed to construct the power plant. The plant has been successfully operating since December 2014.
